ARTIST STATEMENT:
The primary focus of my artwork is NATURE. It could be the representation of an aspect of nature or it could be the result of a further investigation into the underlying forces of nature.Rudolf Steiner said “ the cosmos speaks through nature”. Nature does not speak in a language that is readily familiar to us. Nature speaks in color and form. Color is emotive and connects with the psyche. That connection is subtle and may not be consciously recognized, yet it is felt. Form is the structual basis of everything in the universe and is based on number and geometry. These structures create a language that human beings can understand. The interpretation of form needs to be commonly understood to be of value in communication. We attach meaning to form and color based on what we have been taught, but in a constantly evolving universe, things are changing all the time. A pyramid is not a skyscraper, Dinosaurs are no longer here. Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky created artwork that was called abstract because they wanted to lead the viewer beyond the static manifested world to a more fluid world of new possibilities and created a new vocabulary in doing so. In my spiritual studies the world consists of three parts: What has already become ( the manifested world), What is becoming ( the world we currently live in) and the future world (which is mass of undifferentuated matter yet to be formed). We have a part in how the future will unfold. In my work, based on starting where we are in the nature of the past and present and looking for the possibilities of evolution . I creatively modify color and form to trigger the psyche into looking at nature in a new way , a way that recognizes the impermanence of everything. CHANGE IS THE ONLY CONSTANT AND ART SHOWS THE WAY
