ART, GEOMETRY AND THE COSMOS :

I will start with a quote by Rudolf Steiner “THE COSMOS SPEAKS THROUGH NATURE”. I love nature and that extends beyond earthly events to the entire cosmos. LIGHT is the focus of my study of nature. Light is invisible to the human eye, it is only when light strikes an object that the result of that interaction becomes visable. That is why a great deal of my work begins with a photograph. A photograph is a recording of what is revealed by an object when light strikes it. The camera is very much like the human eye and in addition to what is seen, it makes an accurate recording of the event, which can be stored and reproduced. It can also be creatively enhanced. This is aided greatly by digital cameras. The photograph also stops time and that moment in time can be stored for future study and can also be creatively manipulated at any time.

Geometry, and i might say SACRED GEOMETRY, plays a big part in the underlying aspects of nature. Mother nature does not give up her secrets easily, but with patience and careful study, some things may be revealed. My current work incorporates “NATURAL REFLECTIVE GEOMETRY”. Just as a still lake reflects its surroundings such as a tree or bird, two images of the same event, joined together in a reflective manner, reveal a third image that is much more than the sum of its parts. I often find the new image to be suggestive of a word or a new thought structure.
